White Pines Forest State Park

Weather was good for late November, 51 and sunny. The wind was pretty strong but, not on the trails which was nice.

Kathryn took the day off before Thanksgiving for a nice day of hiking in another State Park in Illinois. Cutter came too, happy dog.

White Pines State Park is an 1:15 straight West of our house. All the hikes are short so we did most of them.

Before lunch we did Red Squirrel Trail and Whispering Pines Trails and a little extra. The trails were peaceful; with lots of pine cones and lots of crunching of Oak leaves. We did not see anyone on the trails (nice).

We drove to another area of the park and since the wind was pretty cold there, we enjoyed our picnic lunch in the car (Cutter too).

After lunch we did the Sunset Trail Loop and then the Sleepy Hollow Loop. The Sleepy Hollow Loop had some closed sections for rebuilding so turned out to be an out and back.

Only took a few pictures, scenery was just late fall woods but, the hikes were nice. A good day.
